FAQs
Will my photos be used on social media? Yes. Unless you request before hand that they not be used, Marianne Overton Photography will post images on social media and/or marianneovertonphotography.com for business purposes.
Why do you require a deposit? So, life happens. And I totally get that! For many circumstances, that deposit is transferrable. However, if you change your mind, don't like your outfit, just want to change the day due to bad moods, etc--->the money from that reserved date is lost to me and kind of stinks. So it's like a little back up plan for scenario's like that. ;) All deposits are nonrefundable. Transfers are handled on a case by case basis.
How do I book a session? Booking is easy! Book online and shoot me a text or email with any questions. After the booking is completed you will receive an email from me confirming your appointment and then again about 1 week prior to your scheduled shoot. You’ll also receive payment information that is due prior to or at the beginning of your scheduled shoot.
How do I pay for a session? Payment info will be sent to you 1 week prior to your scheduled shoot; this payment is due prior to or at the beginning of your schedule shoot. Payment is made online, through Venmo or with cash.
What can I expect during the session? I offer a lot of photography types because I just can’t niche down. It’s too hard! Haha. For shoots with newborns in my studio or your home, you can expect to sit back and relax. I provide everything needed to make our session run smoothly. More details about newborn sessions will be in your prep guide that comes when booking. For family sessions, just remember that children are UNPREDICTABLE... so, it is my job to be ready for anything! A lot of times parents get frustrated because sessions don’t seem to be going perfectly, but those small moments in between all the tantrums and chaos are beautiful. People are often surprised to see that there are so many great pictures to choose from, when all they remember is their wild child. Don’t worry, I shoot like crazy and it’s my job to capture it all! The only job I give parents is to relax & enjoy it! I will do all of the hard work! I will give a lot of direction during the session so you will know exactly what to do. Children match your energy, so if you are having fun and showing them how much you love them, they will show you the same in return. Once in a while there are children that for whatever reason, do not want to be photographed. I might ask to photograph your child or children away from the parents so they will just focus on me and my lame jokes. It usually works! They don’t know me and usually children are on their best behavior for others! This is one way we can work together to make your sessions run smoothly. If you’re here for weddings—just know I got you. I am prepared for all the things and cover all the details you’ll want to remember about your special day.
HELP. What should I wear? I am a mom. I get how stressful pictures can be! Try to have your outfits nailed down at least a week before your session; that way you are not stressing about clothes! Think timeless. Think layers. Think outside the box! Little boys are adorable in suspenders, top hats, vests, shorts. Little ladies are adorable in twirly dresses and subtle prints. Try not to be too matchy and allow yourself to mix colors that you wouldn't normally piece together. It will all come together! You’ll receive a style guide at booking to help and I collaborate with Styled by Sarah and she is a genius at piecing together outfits- so look her up!
Where should I print my photos? So, there are a zillion options for you when it comes to printing. Be picky! Pay the extra dollar or two per print. It is worth it. The quality of print can completely change the entire look of your photos. I like using PIXIESET, which you are able to use with the gallery I send. I also love to use MPIX.com, and print on their metallic paper.  I also use White House Custom Color (WHCC), and print all my prints on their embassy texture paper.
Can I create my own photo shoot, package, shot list? ABSOLUTELY! You're the customer. I cater to you! Your price might be adjusted if you’re crazy, but still. I got you.
What locations require a travel fee, and how many should I add on? If you already know the location you want your session to be at, the easiest option here is to shoot me a text. I’ll map it and let you know.
I want the best light for my photos. What time should I book for? Sunrise and sunset hour are prime for photos! Booking the first and/or last available appointment of the day is your best bet. Please note that the times for the first and last appointment are adjusted throughout the year to account for the sun. Summer time we meet earlier in the morning and later in the evening; winter time we meet later in the morning and earlier in the evening. If you need a session but don’t love those hours, we can work midday! We just may choose a location that offers some shade.
